Lost in Mazie Mansion is a game I worked on in Husky Game Development Spring '22. I was in charge of composing the music and implementing all of the audio into the game through FMOD. Before I joined, there was very little sound implemented into the game, only two music tracks and some footsteps (not mapped to animation). Once on the team, I began by reorganizing the FMOD project, fixing up some of the events already present, and updating the project to a version that was compatible with the FMOD plugin within Unity. Then I plugged the unused events into the game and built upon the audio in the game with the sound designer.

Points of interest:

  • For the piano puzzle in the game, the sound designer and I recorded all of the notes from A#3 to G4 on the piano into Pro Tools. From there, I edited and converted each note to an FMOD event. I've made it to where the player can hold any key down as long as they'd like. Then, I created a script to handle calling the FMOD event and plugged the events into the puzzle in Unity.

  • Wrote scripts to handle audio events in Unity.

  • Mapped audio to animations.

  • Worked with the sound designer to find ways to improve/build on the audio in the game.

  • Taught the sound designer the basics of FMOD.

  • Created and maintained a cue list for the audio team.

Unfortunately, I was unable to completely finish my work on the game because I had to leave school early. Though, I am still proud in what I was able to accomplish in the time I was on the team.
